Oopbuy PayPal fees and conversion: read the debit correctly
Your PayPal debit can differ from the amount shown for an item because a recharge, currency conversion and goods payment are different transactions. Start with the payment receipt and the credited Oopbuy balance. Do not compare a provider debit directly with a spreadsheet's saved item price.
Identify the recharge before calculating a feeIdentify the recharge before calculating a fee
Oopbuy's top-up guidance describes PayPal recharge using USD conversion. That is a payment-specific context: it does not mean every item price is a USD charge or that every later balance deduction incurs the same fee again.
On the provider confirmation, find the debit amount and currency, any separately shown fee and the conversion information. On Oopbuy, find the corresponding credited amount and currency. Use the amounts shown for your transaction; a percentage remembered from an older guide is not a current quote.
If a charge is included in the displayed total, do not add it a second time. If it is separate, keep its label with the amount so you can see which party charged it.
One recharge, two different currency amounts
Illustration only: suppose the provider shows a total USD 82 debit, and the matching Oopbuy recharge credits CNY 560. Assume the USD 82 already includes all provider-side charges.
You can say that USD 82 funded CNY 560 for this example. You cannot say that the difference between 82 and 560 is a fee; the numbers use different currencies. Nor can you extract a particular fee percentage from the pair alone if the conversion and fee components are not itemized.
If the next goods payment deducts CNY 180, the account balance becomes CNY 380, assuming no other transactions. The USD 82 recharge and CNY 180 deduction are not two independent purchases to add together. The deduction used part of the balance that the recharge created.
Check the mismatch at the stage where it arose
- A different provider debit from the confirmation: compare the provider receipt, currency and separately posted entries.
- Less account credit than expected: compare the recharge confirmation with the actual credit, not with an item price.
- A later balance decrease: find the named goods or parcel payment before attributing it to PayPal.
- A positive balance after an adjustment: distinguish available CNY balance from a completed USD provider refund.
These checks locate the unexplained amount without inventing an exchange rate or assigning every difference to a fee.
For the later CNY deductions, use recharge versus order payment. For money coming back after a purchase, read refund destination and balance.
