Recover a find behind a broken spreadsheet link
When a saved find stops opening, identify which part failed: the spreadsheet, the link wrapper or the seller listing. Keep the row's name, option and original item identifier before trying another route. That gives you something better than a thumbnail to search for.
The sheet itself will not openThe sheet itself will not open
A permission request belongs to the document, not necessarily the product. Check whether you opened a private copy, an old shared link or the creator's current public version. Request document access only from the publisher you intended to contact. A seller cannot repair a spreadsheet's sharing settings.
If the sheet opens but the cell does nothing, select the cell and look for its actual hyperlink. The visible text may be a label rather than a complete destination. On a phone, link-opening steps help separate cell selection from navigation.
The wrapper opens, but the item does not
A wrapper or converted link can carry an original marketplace destination inside a longer address. Preserve the complete original link before investigating. Avoid guessing item numbers, cutting off parameters at random or treating a converter's landing page as the product.
Compare three things when you reach a destination:
- The original marketplace and item identifier, where visible.
- The seller and product type, not just a familiar photo.
- The available version or option corresponding to your saved row.
A converter can change the route used to open a listing; it cannot bring a deleted seller item back into stock. Likewise, opening successfully does not establish that the original option is still available.
The seller listing is gone or changed
“Unavailable,” a missing option and a login screen are different outcomes. A login screen alone does not tell you whether the item has been removed. An unavailable page may leave you with a useful name or image, but a visually similar replacement is a new candidate to check.
Save a compact recovery note: item identifier if known, seller, selected option, old price and the date you last opened it. Then use better search terms to look for the model or item type. Compare any new candidate's size chart, included pieces and current amount afresh.
Know when to stop retrying
If the original destination is genuinely unavailable, repeated wrapper changes add little. Mark the row as unavailable and keep its notes for comparison. If the same destination works in a normal browser but not an app handoff, keep the browser route and investigate the opening problem instead of discarding the find.
